DirectTV just called…

DirectTV’s automated system just called to ask me if their install tech could show up within the next 30 minutes.  It is voice prompted so I obviously said ‘yes’.  The automated voice confirmed and said they’d see me shortly.

After months of not having cable or satellite TV, I snapped the other day and ordered DirectTV. I took their largest package and also picked up one of their HD DVR receivers. We’ll see how it works out–I may just opt for TiVo if the DirectTV DVR sucks.

So the install time is between 8 AM and noon. Its now just after 11 AM. No call, no nothing as of yet. What are the chances that the installer will show up within the next 50 minutes as promised?

Nokia N95-3

I have my second Nokia N95 on order; which should be delivered on Monday. I didn’t like the phone the first time I had it. I found the navigation too difficult and the phone had memory issues.

The N95-3 is the most recent version. Looks like it has more RAM and it now supports 3G here in the US. It will be nice to have a cool, fun phone again.

Tom Perkins on 60 mins

Just reading the blurb on cbs.com regarding the 60 minutes spot on Tom Perkins.  They say that he paid approx. 150 million for his sailboat–that’s the length of a football field.  At that point, doesn’t it transform from a sailboat to a pirate ship?

Moms Birthday

It’s my moms birthday today.  I gave her a call to see what she was up to and if my dad had taken her out for dinner.  I found out that he was down at her place last night along with my brother and his girlfriend.  Glad that a few of them got a chance to get together on moms birthday.
