Houston Airport this morning

Sitting in the Houston (IAH) this morning waiting for my flight to Chicago and then over to Vermont so that I can pickup my car and drive up to Montreal.  So far this morning hasn’t been as bad as I expected.  Check in was easy since I carry a high status with United (no one in front of me) and security was about 15 minutes or so.  Not bad all things considering.

However, the check in lines for regular travelers was starting to backup and I expect that security will do the same.  If you’re headed to the airport today, might want to make sure you’re there at least 2 hours before your flight to get through the madness.

In Montreal for the US long weekend

I’ll be in Montreal Wednesday night through to Sunday night.  Hit me up on my Houston or Montreal cells to meet up if you’re also in town.

Gotham Pizza – Houston

One of the guys who helps run a few restaurants in town pointed me to Gotham pizza as some of the best pizza around.  So before going out last night we decided to grab some pizza, play some NCAA football on the PS3 and get ready for the night.

The calzones were pretty awesome.  And The Works pizza and Philly Steak pizza was awesome.  If you’re in town, grab a slice or a pie.

Luckys

A bunch of us went out to a place called Luckys last night to catch some of the football games and to check out a new band that was playing in town.  The band was pretty cool; sort of funk rock.

The venue, Luckys, was a lot of fun.  Right near the lofts at the ballpark in Houston.  Couple hundred people there and all having a good time.  If you’re in town, check out Luckys myspace page to see what band is rolling into town.  You can probably catch a good show, with no cover.

DirectTV come and gone

What a mess.  The DirectTV installer showed up within his window–which is a bonus for the company.  However, he had never dealt with my building before and didn’t have a clue about the next step.

So I basically sent him home because it was clear that he knew about as much as I did about installing DirectTV in my building.  So I called building management to see what is up with DirectTV and how we get it installed.  They gave me a number so I called to see about my order.

It turns out that I was calling AT&T (our building has a contract with them) in order to get DirectTV.  To compound my confusion, AT&T’s site only mentions service from DishNetwork.

All of that said, I had to cancel my original order to place a new order with DirectTV through AT&T.  The installer should be out tomorrow between 8 – 8.  We’ll see what happens.
