ISP download speeds picking up

Finally my ISP (Videotron) is taking their service seriously.  For many years the only decent ISP in Montreal has maintained a pretty crap network.  The network was fairly reliable, but download speeds were always horrible.  Their peering agreements were always pegged and it always felt like they were traffic shapping, but screwed up the config.  So even normal traffic just felt laggy.

Within the last few weeks my ISP finally flipped the switch on their new network.  Download speeds are fantastic, upload speeds are the same.  Now the plans that they’re advertising are actually the truth.  Unlike most ISPs that offer 10 mbit/s downloads, but you only ever pull 3 or less.  So kudos to Videotron for taking their business seriously and for kicking up the service without kicking up the pricing.

How to guarantee a raffle win

Everyone likes a raffle. Nobody likes to walk home empty handed. What happens if you have the opportunity to ‘rig’ the raffle so that you go home with something? :)

When playing darts….

When playing darts, it is important that you concentrate on the dart board.  Notice the dart near the light?  That’s what happens when one of your friends is easily distracted and throwing a dart:

Jamba Juice — Come to Canada..mmm..k

Everytime I’m in the US I make a point to stop at a Jamba Juice.  I’ve probably been to all 20 in NYC  ;)  And next time I’m in CA, I’ll make a point to stop at every single one in that state.  But, the flights to NYC and CA are occasional and not as often as I crave a tasty delight of a beverage from Jamba Juice.  So, Jamba Juice management is listening, how about bringing one to Montreal?  You’re guaranteed to make $5k/yr off the bat, just based on my consumption.  That should be plenty of incentive to show up  ;)

Very cool position available @ MyBlogLog

This morning MyBlogLog (owned by Yahoo!) posted a very cool position related to bringing things to the next level.  They’re looking for a Community Manager.  Someone who can be the public face for their service.  An evangelist, someone to listen to clients and get problems fixed quickly as well as play a role in the development of new features.  The full job description is here (although, this seems like a really fun position…so…probably a labour of love over and above a job).  If you have passion for the web and love fast evolving work places, check out MyBlogLog.

[Disclaimer: I have zero affiliation with MyBlogLog or Yahoo!.  I am simply an admirer of their work and passion for their users.]
