Think you’re serious about music?

Think again.  The guy who lives in this house has you beat hands down.

Dell wants to backup your data, sorta.

Om Malik has a good post up about Dell’s new ambitions to backup your data and help you migrate from one machine to another.  Obviously there are security and privacy concerns, let alone the bandwidth required to move GBs of data.  But, if you’re lucky enough to be on an ethernet connection or Verizon’s FIOS, you’ll probably be alright–just encrypt your data  ;)

A very cool up and coming VC blog

Brad Feld & Jason Mendelson, both players in the VC space, have started a new blog — askthevc.com. The blog is very new, but it already has some really great information regarding the search for VC funding and what the terms and the process is like. I’ve been down the VC road once before. And it was a long trek but we ended up securing funding from a very large VC firm in Calgary, AB. CANADA back in 2000, 2001.
Add the blog to your RSS reader. I’ve been reading it for about a week now (its entire existence) and love it.

IBM altering history?!

I don’t have any information from one side or the other, but Simon Phipps has made a very interesting post today about corporate blogs and what should be done and what happens when people leave an organization.  When you have a chance, check out his post.  It would be nice to see a response from IBM about this.  What was their motivation for rewriting history?  Something to hide?

PayPal finally increasing security

PayPal SecureID

PayPal has finally come up with a solution to combat phishing.  They’re using a device from SecureID that’s been in the marketplace for 8+ years.  I remember implementing a SecureID system in the late 90′s when I was working for the largest landline and mobile phone provider in Canada.  The SecureID device was used in conjunction with standard username/password to gain access to the companies intranet (customer data).

A little late, but congrats to PayPal for selecting this additional level of security for their clients.
