5 Things You Don’t Know About Me

I got tagged by one of my friends who will remain nameless because they know I hate this crap and they did it on purpose. So, 5 things you probably don’t know about me:

1. I was involved (co-founder) of an exceptionally large multimedia company out of Montreal back in 1999/2000. I ended up leaving the company about a year later due to prior commitments. I still own a small stake in the company.

2. I have a serious addiction to cell phones/technology. I carry 3 – 4 cell phones and an EVDO card at any given time and love the latest and greatest.

3. I graduated regular high school at 16 and I’ve lived on my own ever since.

4. I went to join the air force but was rejected because I’m colorblind.

5. I have several university degrees, all of which aren’t in use today ;)

Now that I’m done with that, time to tag others. Adam from Site5 needs to spill the beans, Matt from Site5 is on my hit list, Kevin from Site5 as well.

Microsoft giving up free laptops with Vista installed

Looks like Microsoft’s PR company is up to no good ;) They’re giving out free laptops with Vista installed to hopefully garner some word of mouth on the net. Clearly it is working, since I and a bunch of other people are writing about it. But MS giving away a laptop and having someone write about how good or bad Vista is will not sway me nor do I think it will sway many others. Vista seems interesting, but version 2 of it will be better. I feel sorry for all of the people who will be beta testing released software over the next 6 – 12 months. Will this MS PR stunt blow up in their face? Probably not, but it has people talking and that’s what matters I guess.

Heading to NYC for New Year’s. w00t

I’ll be heading to NYC for New Year’s.  Never been in time square for New Year’s, but I’m excited.  Just something to check off on the list of things to do while I’m still walking.  Kevin, Site5‘s CFO, will be coming out from the left coast.  Adam, Site5′s CTO, will also be rolling up from the south to NYC for the festivities.

If you’re going to be in NYC and you want to meet up, call my cell (during reasonable ET hours): 514.238.5906

364 days until Christmas, I’m super exicted!

Yeah, not really.  I’m not much of a Christmas guy.  I don’t mind the spending time with family and hanging out with friends, but the whole Christmas thing is blown way out of proportion.  I’m not religious by any means, but I’m fairly certain that Christmas wasn’t created for retailers.

So next Christmas, let’s spend time on the things that matter rather than spending time in shopping malls trying to find the perfect gift for your 37th cousin on your moms side who you’ve never met but have to get something for because they’re coming over for dinner.
